Optimal for acclimatization and higher success rate
Mount Meru, a dormant stratovolcano formed over 500,000 years ago, stands at 4,566m as Tanzania's second-highest peak. A massive eruption 250,000 years ago reshaped its eastern flank, creating a dramatic crater. Revered by local Meru and Arusha communities, it holds deep spiritual significance.
The first recorded summit was in 1904 by German explorer Fritz Jaeger, guided by locals through treacherous ridges. Today, the 3-day route is a challenging yet rewarding trek for experienced climbers seeking a swift ascent.
The 4-day Mount Meru trek combines challenge with comfort. With an extra day for acclimatization, this route offers a 92% summit success rate while allowing you to savor the views and truly connect with the mountain.
The 4-day itinerary includes an extra night at Miriakamba Hut after the summit, allowing for a more relaxed descent and better recovery, ideal for first-time high-altitude trekkers.
