After breakfast, a 2-hour drive from your hotel brings you to Arusha National Park. At Momella Gate, your guide completes paperwork before you begin hiking, accompanied by an armed park ranger due to wildlife. Spot giraffes, zebras, and baboons as you cross the Ngare Nanyuki River.
The trail leads through dense forest to Mayo Falls after ~2 hours, perfect for a picnic. Continue to the iconic Arched Fig Tree, a natural gateway, before reaching Miriakamba Hut after 1.5-2 hours for your first night.
Momella Gate
Begin after breakfast, trekking through dense forest with mosses and lichens. After 2-3 hours, reach Mgongo wa Tembo (Elephant Ridge) at 3,200m, with steep sections aided by wooden steps. Enjoy views of Meru’s burst crater.
