Three key factors contribute to the high success rates (85-95%): 1) Longer duration allows for better acclimatization, 2) Gradual elevation gains with "climb high, sleep low" days, 3) The northern approach has more stable weather with less precipitation than southern routes.

Temperatures at high camps (Moir Hut, Buffalo Camp) often drop below freezing at night, sometimes to -10°C (14°F). Daytime temperatures range from 5-15°C (41-59°F). The northern side tends to be windier but drier than southern routes, making the cold feel more manageable with proper layers.

The 9-day option is ideal for: 1) First-time high altitude trekkers, 2) Those who've had altitude issues before, 3) Photographers wanting more time to capture the scenery, 4) Anyone prioritizing summit success over budget. The extra acclimatization day increases success rates by 5-8% over the 8-day version.
